We Have Lift Off

WE HAVE LIFT OFF!!

Just a few short weeks ago, ATLAS launched a brand-new ATLAS Academy pilot serving 24 new 3rd - 5th grade students during the after-school hours. As a final component of the ATLAS Continuum structure, the start of the 3rd-5th grade program has brought tremendous excitement to the ATLAS team and community. With its launch, ATLAS is now serving children at every age from birth through adulthood.

Built on the foundations of the Kindergarten – 2nd grade ATLAS Academy, the 3rd – 5th grade program continues the individualized mastery approach seen throughout the Early Learners program. ATLAS Academy is uniquely designed to create overlap between Early Learners (Birth - 2nd grade) and Christian Learning Center (3rd grade - Adulthood). This allows the ATLAS team to customize each student's instruction and address their specific needs...not being bound by a student's grade or age.

Like the K-2nd grade program, ATLAS Academy 3rd – 5th continues to target academic and spiritual growth for each child, but incorporates additional learning experiences into developmentally appropriate program curriculum.

ATLAS Academy 3rd - 5th

Primary Targets

Spiritual Development

  • ATLAS brings students from the foundational truths, stories, and verses they learned in Early Learners to a deeper understanding of the gospel and how it relates to their lives…transitioning truths, facts, and information into beliefs. Above our CLC Director Gerald Davis leads large group teaching time.

Academic Development

  • The Academy uses specialized staff and instruction to equip students with skills they need for reading success, targeting grade level metrics in 2 specific areas.

  • Fluency (the ability to read with accuracy, speed, and expression)

  • Comprehension (the ability to interpret and understand what is being read)

Experiential Learning

  • ATLAS electives expose students to outside opportunities through experiences beyond their academic development. Students participate in a variety of extra curricular activities, field trips, and camps. Seen below, OPAS is bringing the world of fine arts to the Academy!
