The Family Services Division of ATLAS provides a ‘hand up’ to families who are deeply committed to making positive life changes. Through classes and other resources, the Family Services Division walks with men and women, helping them to become successful and responsible parents, spouses, and neighbors. With the help of numerous volunteers, ATLAS provides a faith-based mentoring program (which teams a 'Christian Friend' with each client) Bible studies, parenting classes, financial coaching, and other life skills training to its clients.

Specifically the Family Services Division works with local families to:
- Define their most important needs and goals
- Develop a plan to meet them
- Help them grow mentally, physically, spiritually
- Identify their strengths and special gifts
- Connect them with local resources
- Help them become who God created them to be
We serve families who are deeply committed to change and work with parents and children simultaneously:
- Our approach is tightly focused
- We help no more than 17 families at a time
- Each family is carefully selected
- Each must show sincere commitment
For ATLAS to be able to help, families must demonstrate:
- A deep desire to change, grow
- Willingness to “dream large”
- An investment of time and energy
- Acceptance of greater discipline
- Honesty and openness
- Wholehearted commitment
Here’s how we work with families:
- Learn their situation, needs, problems
- Agree on a specific plan to transform their life
- Write a success contract so everyone knows what is expected
- Connect them with local agencies that can help
- Involve a local church in their spiritual growth
- Recommend classes, resources
- Meet with them twice per month to monitor progress
ATLAS is both caring and efficient:
- Progress is monitored and measured
- Our staff is small, our budget modest
- We intend to get best possible return on contributions we receive
- Success will be leveraged: families that reach their goals are expected to help others
