Mathis Home
CONSTRUCTION BEGINS ON MATHIS HOME
ATLAS Ministry family Shanta Mathis and her two daughters will celebrate Christmas in their new home this year.
Selected last year as a potential homeowner by Greene County Habitat for Humanity, Shanta Mathis has met all the qualifications to buy a home in the GCHFH New Horizons community of Greensboro. At the groundbreaking ceremony which took place on August 29, Shanta said, "This home is a blessingand will be a new beginning for my young family."
Construction on the Mathis home began in early September. Shanta has already begun fulfilling the 250 hours of 'sweat equity' that is required of Habitat families before moving into their homes. In addition, she has attended monthly home ownership workshops through GCHFH since being accepted into the program.
Greene County Habitat for Humanity is a non-denominational Christian ministry working in partnership with the community and future homeowners to provide decent, affordable, and safe housing for those in need. The organization not only believes that family strength is supported and improved by the quality of living conditions, but the community benefits as well.
Three of the last six families that qualified for GCHFH homes are curent ATLAS families.
